You all remember the saying, “If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all”? It’s great in theory, and a polite social guideline, but what happens when the very necessary truth…hurts? You see, I believe sometimes, the most necessary opportunity for personal growth and maturity comes in a package we’d least expect…or want. And that’s the conversation I’m having this week with author and Pastor Loren Covarrubias. Get ready to take some notes. Let’s get right to it. In this episode... We're living in a time in which political correctness is prevalent. But never being offensive in order to bring truth is detrimental to our personal growth. A "politically-correct Jesus" isn't a real Jesus. Sometimes leadership is required to make hard decisions; decisions that go against the fiber of our human nature. Leadership is confrontation! Our goal in life shouldn't be comfort. In order to go on to maturity, we must abandon that primary motivation. The pursuit of purpose and responsibility yields the happiness that most of us are after. Yet the pursuit of happiness as the primary target in life often sidesteps a life characterized by purpose. We must be careful to be purpose-driven, even above goal-driven, because we can accomplish goals that do not aid the fulfillment of our purpose. Trust is developed through a consistency in communication and behavior over time. The "celebrity culture" in which we live keeps us distracted from intentionality and selfless living. If your mind can be changed, you'll be changed for a day. But if your mindset is changed, your life will be changed. More from Episode 038... If you'd like to connect with Pastor Loren Covarrubias, you can read his blogs and watch message archives by visiting LorenRCovarrubias.com. You can also connect with him on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Thanks again for joining us this week. I've mentioned this for the last few weeks, but I want to hear more from you. So...I have a brand new call-in line in which I want to invite you to ask me a question about anything. I'll air your question on the show and do my best to answer it. Here's the number: 248-266-2945. Have an awesome week.
