Many of you listening right now may be thinking, my relationship needs hope, my marriage needs hope; real, lasting hope. Well that’s what today is all about. You see, you can read every relationship book on the shelf, attend every marriage conference in the country, and even do all the right things, but you might get the wrong result and find your relationship on the brink of collapse. That was the case for our guests today. Dave and Ann Wilson are co-founders of Kensington Church, a national, multi-campus church that hosts more than 14,000 attendees every single weekend. For the past twenty-five years, they have been featured speakers at Family Life’s Weekend to Remember®, and have also hosted their own marriage conferences across the country. Their mission is to share a secret with people that will completely revolutionize both their personal life and their marriage in a way no amount of human wit or wisdom can even begin to offer. Currently, they live in the Detroit area, where Dave served as the Detroit Lions Chaplain for thirty-three years. But their present-day story of a successful marriage was birthed on one night that was anything but successful: the night of their 10th wedding anniversary. With one short statement from Ann, the tables seemed to have turned. Divorce seemed inevitable. But starting that night, God began to reveal to Dave and Ann the most overlooked secret of experiencing the quality of marriage we all are looking for. And that’s exactly what you’re going to learn right now. Buy the Book He never saw it coming. It was the night of Dave and Ann’s tenth wedding anniversary and if asked how their marriage was doing, Dave would have said a 9.8 out of 10 and he even guaranteed Ann would say the same. But instead of giving a celebratory kiss, Ann whispered, “I’ve lost my feelings for you.” Divorce seemed inevitable. But starting that night, God began to reveal to Dave and Ann the most overlooked secret of getting the marriage we are looking for: the horizontal marriage relationship just doesn’t work until the vertical relationship with Christ is first. As founders of a multi-campus church and marriage coaches with 30 years of experience, Dave and Ann share the hard-earned but easy-to-apply biblical principles that ensure a strong marriage. Written in a funny and highly relatable dialogue between both husband and wife, Vertical Marriage will guide you toward building a vibrant relationship at every level including communication, conflict, intimacy, and romance—though Dave is still figuring that last one out. Through their unique perspectives, they share an intimate, sometimes hilarious and at times deeply poignant narrative of one couple’s journey to reconnecting with God and discovering the joy and power of a vertical marriage. For anyone who is married, preparing for marriage, or desperate to save a relationship teetering on the edge of disaster, Dave and Ann offer hope and strategies that really work. Vertical Marriage will give you the insight, applications, and inspiration to reconnect with God together and to transform your marriage to everything you hoped it would be. It is professionally produced, yet still has an informal feel like I’m hanging out with Chris… And frankly, I’d love to hang out with him! I really appreciate his heart and have been able to apply many of his topics in my life to help me grow professionally, physically, and relationally. A+!"

A lot of people walk through life without ever turning the key on the unique purpose for which they were created. Beyond accomplishments, beyond a vocation, and even beyond this thing called a “calling," who you are at the core of your being is rooted in identity. And discovering your identity, according to today's guests, Cody Wilson and Dave Bauer, is a dynamic process that unfolds through relationship with God. These guys are no strangers to persevering through disappointment on their way to establishing deep roots of identity and purpose that are now helping multitudes of people every week. Cody Wilson grew-up as the son of well-known co-founders of one of the largest churches in the Midwest. But it wasn’t long before he built his own accolades as the captain of the Central Michigan University football team where he was a decorated wide receiver and two-time academic All American. For two years following his college career, he played wide receiver for the Detroit Lions. Today, he's a teaching pastor at Kensington Church in metro Detroit, where he speaks to thousands on a weekly basis. Dave Bauer is a pioneer and thought-leader who leads hundreds of people through the process of transformation from brokenness and pain into the discovery of freedom and identity. As a writer and communicator, Dave’s approach to wholeness is shaping the lives of men and women all around the metro Detroit area, including mine. In today’s conversation, you’re going to tap into the truth, maybe for the first time, about how to press past insecurity and obscurity in order to see who you were originally and uniquely created to be. You see, God calls you by name, my friend. But too often, we call ourselves by our circumstances and then live limited, not by the cap on our purpose, but by our own constrained thinking that keeps us from stepping into the fullness of who we were always created to be. Mark Twain said, “The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.” Review “Win Today” Click here to read the ratings, or even better, please leave me a rating and review on iTunes. Today, we’re talking all about developing the grit, tenacity, and perseverance to endure trials in life when they show-up at our doorstep. And our guest today is no stranger to any of that. Devon Still is a former defensive tackle who played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, and New York Jets. As a young professional athlete, he was offered a multimillion-dollar contract to play football, what many would consider a dream. For Devon Still, life has been a journey from one scar to the next and literally from one challenge to the next. Injury after injury started in high school and continued into his illustrious college football career as captain at Penn State, and even into his career in the NFL. But the biggest challenge of his life came when his young daughter, Leah, was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma, a deadly brain cancer. Everything Devon knew about winning was about to be challenged. Everything he knew about life was about to be challenged. And everything he truly valued in life was about to be put on the line. But pumping through Devon’s soul, behind the brokenness and fear, was a determination to use the tactics he learned on the field to fight for his daughter’s life until death. Literally. In today’s conversation, you’re going to be challenged to ask yourself, in your own pain, whether or not you’re going to quit before time is up. It’s a question we all have to face in trials. Every storm you face will either break you or make you stronger. Buy Devon's Book Be proud of your scars. They’re signs that you survived whatever tried to break you. For Devon Still, life has been a journey from one scar to the next. From one challenge to the next. His is a story of pushing through pain and overcoming obstacles of all shapes and sizes—of choosing to fight for the sake of his family, his community, and his faith. Millions of people around the world have been inspired by Devon’s tireless devotion in helping his daughter, Leah, learn how to “beat up cancer.” But in these pages, Devon takes readers behind the headlines to reveal the deeper story of what prepared him for that fight. Andi was born and raised in Spokane, Washington, and in 2002, married her husband Paul in Sydney, Australia. In 2010, her family packed up their lives and moved to NYC to establish Liberty Church, which is now a growing church with multiple communities in the city. But it was in the last couple years, though, that challenges in her own life forced her to answer the question of whether or not she was living as a fake. The death of her mother-in-law and other hardships made her come to terms with what she really believed…and lived. You see, we live in a culture where many identify as "Christian" without fully embracing what it looks like to follow Jesus day-in and day-out. And in our conversation today, Andi doesn’t pull any punches in helping us determine our lives are void of true transformation. Is the gospel, the message of Jesus, simply a self-help tool? And how do live the life in 2019? It's time to ask ourselves, "Am I really following Jesus? Or am I just faking it? Buy the Book We live in a culture where many identify as "Christian" without fully embracing what it looks like to follow Jesus day-in and day-out. After gathering on a Sunday, do we simply go about our business, void of true transformation? Is the gospel simply a self-help tool, the church just a place where our needs can be met? It's time to ask ourselves, "Am I really following Jesus? Or am I just faking it?" With eye-opening personal stories, Scripture, and thought-provoking questions, Andi Andrew lovingly invites readers to examine their hearts to discover whether their faith is a genuine, life-giving marriage of belief and practice in response to Christ's life and sacrifice, or if it is just a lifestyle choice on par with any other. She encourages readers to surrender their whole lives to Jesus daily, grapple with hard questions they may have been avoiding, and discover a life fully alive, following in the way, the truth, and the life of Jesus Christ.
