Time doesn’t change who you are. Time makes you more of who you are. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is an essential component of living life on purpose. We all have blind spots. Yet, making a conscious effort to see and understand them is a challenge few people embrace. Left unchecked, blind spots will sabotage your potential, especially if you are a leader, because unattended blind spots have a compounding negative effect upon the people you lead. What does this mean? At the end of the day, you are in a war with yourself to fight negativity, insecurity, depression, anxiety, self-sabotage, and perpetual bad habits that will keep you from taking you in the direction of the life you want to live. And today’s guest has a lot to say about that very subject…and a passion to help you defeat every self-inflicted obstacle in your path. Meet Levi Lusko. Levi Lusko is a bestselling author, and pastor of Fresh Life Church, a multisite church that he founded with his wife Jennie in 2007. But life hasn’t always been roses. Despite his success, Levi has had his share of struggles with anxiety, moodiness, bullying, suicidal thoughts, night terrors, and difficulty managing himself amidst being a husband, father, and leader. But through his own battle, Levi discovered four keys to winning the internal war against himself in order to live a life of lasting significance; four keys he’s going to share with you today. In today’s conversation, you’re going to learn how to retaliate against your anxiety by filling your heart with truth and making it inhospitable to terror, stop being victimized by your bad behaviors and become the victor you were born to be, overcome self-imposed isolation by learning to think right so you can live right, and spare your family unnecessary heartache by confronting your dysfunction so they don’t have to. It’s time to stop being your own worst enemy. As Levi says, “Declare war and become the person, the spouse, the parent, and the leader God intended you to be." Buy the Book Get out of your own way. Whether you recognize it or not, you're at war with yourself. There's anxiety. Selfishness. Self-sabotaging tendencies. Narcissism. The black dog of depression. The inability to do the great things you long to do because you spend so many hours mindlessly drifting through the internet. It is war, but all is not lost. You can win—if you choose to engage. In I Declare War: Four Keys to Winning the Battle with Yourself, Levi Lusko candidly shares about his struggles with moodiness, bullying, suicidal thoughts, night terrors, and difficulty managing himself. He identifies four weapons you have at your disposal—thoughts, words, behaviors, and power—and illustrates how to use them to achieve ongoing victory. It’s time to stop being your own worst enemy. Declare war and become the person, the spouse, the parent, and the leader God intended you to be. Buy I Declare War: Four Keys to Winning the Battle with Yourself now. I really appreciate his heart and have been able to apply many of his topics in my life to help me grow professionally, physically, and relationally. A+!”

One of the greatest relationship skills you’ll ever acquire is the ability to negotiate. But most of the tactics we’ve learned about negotiation don’t really work. Wouldn’t you agree? How did the last negotiation you were in turn-out? Even if it did work-out in your favor, the ability to accelerate in relationship communication is vital…and it could save your life. Our guest today knows negotiation on a level of intensity and pressure many of us will never have to experience. He is Chris Voss, the former lead international kidnapping negotiator for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. For over two decades, Chris Voss was the lead international kidnapping negotiator for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as the FBI’s hostage negotiation representative for the National Security Council’s Hostage Working Group. During his government career, he also represented the U.S. Government at two international conferences sponsored by the G-8 as an expert in kidnapping. But prior to becoming the FBI lead international kidnapping negotiator, Chris served as the lead Crisis Negotiator for the New York City Division of the FBI and was a member of the New York City Joint Terrorist Task Force for 14 years. Suffice to say, he’s seen some things. How’s this for a resume? Chris was the case agent on TERRSTOP, the TWA Flight 800 catastrophe and negotiated the surrender of the first hostage taker to give up in the Chase Manhattan bank robbery hostage taking. During Chris’s 24 year tenure in the Bureau, he was trained in the art of negotiation by not only the FBI but Scotland Yard and Harvard Law School. Needless to say, this is one bad dude. In today’s conversation, Chris is going to unpack negotiation secrets and strategies that will enable you to win at work and create more meaningful relationships at home. The skills you’re about to learn could very well be the difference-maker you need to form greater connection in every relational situation you face. You ready? Here’s the conversation with the FBI’s former lead hostage negotiator, Chris Voss. Buy Never Split the Difference: Negotiating as if Your Life Depended on It right here, right now. Today’s conversation is about character. In 2019, looking at culture, and the chaotic way so many people interact in relationships, on the news, through social media, and in politics, I believe we’re in a society that is in a huge deficit of character. So today, we’re talking about twelve specific qualities of character that you and I should ensure that we employ every single day, especially when no one else is watching. Overlooking the Hudson River on the campus of the United States Military Academy at West Point are 12 granite benches, each inscribed with a word representing a key leadership virtue: compassion, courage, dedication, determination, dignity, discipline, integrity, loyalty, perseverance, responsibility, service, and trust. These benches remind cadets of the qualities that lead to victory and success, not just on the battlefield, but in all of life. Joining us today to talk about these twelve virtues for life is NBA legend, co-founder and senior vice president of the Orlando Magic, Pat Williams. Pat Williams has been a lifelong student of life and leadership. As a young man, he learned that who you are on the inside is vastly more important than what you do on the outside. As co-founder and senior vice president of the Orlando Magic, Pat, a basketball Hall-of-Famer, is responsible for drafting Shaquille O’Neal and Anfernee "Penny” Hardaway, and led the Philadelphia 76ers to a world championship in 1983. But life hasn’t always been on the up for Pat. In February of 2011, Pat was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, an incurable form of cancer. Miraculously, though, after several rounds of treatment, Pat’s doctors have told him that they are unable to detect any myeloma in his body and have given him a clean bill of health. Pat’s love for family is demonstrated with his wife, Ruth, as they are the parents of 19 children, including 14 adopted from four nations. With his signature enthusiasm and insight, today, Pat Williams is going to share the incredible stories of West Point graduates who exemplified 12 essential qualities of leadership character, from the Civil War to the War on Terror. And He's going to teach all of us how to develop these 12 essential virtues in our lives, whether you are in the corporate world, the academic world, the military, the church, or in some other sphere. We’re jumping back on the relationships train today to talk all about how to keep showing-up, especially when it seems nearly impossible. I really believe that we need a supernatural measure of strength and love to weather hard times in any relationship. A lot of times, when in turmoil, it’s easy to self-protect or self-promote. I’ll put myself on blast and say that I recluse and self-protect. Enough is enough. But that doesn’t solve anything long-term. In fact, I know how frustrated you feel when it seems like you’re communicating to a brick wall. Someone just raised their hand. Well listen, today, we’re diving into the topic of showing-up, even when it’s nearly impossible, and also how to deal with emotional baggage, unmet expectations, and untrue perceptions about our significant other. And today’s guest knows this subject really well. Her name? Karen Ehman. Karen Ehman is a Proverbs 31 Ministries speaker and New York Times bestselling author. Described as profoundly practical, engagingly funny and downright real, her passion is to help people to live their priorities and love their lives as they serve God and others. But behind that passion, she’s an everyday wife and mom, who, early-on in her marriage, said, "I can’t do this anymore.” Today, we’re going to get down to practicality with Karen and tackle issues a lot of couples—dating or married—face on a regular basis, and give you strategies to apply to your relationship today.
