Atop the list of things you and I were designed to never live without is peace. You know this as well I do: disappointment, anger, fear, pain, and discouragement clouds our perception of…everything: our relationships, our job, our emotional well-being, and even our personal sense of purpose. It’s precisely why we need a strong dose of truth to provide perspective and empowerment in the midst of any difficulty we face in life. Maybe right now as you’re listening to me speak, you’re holed-up in a job you hate, a relationship you resent, and a life you wish wasn’t yours. So right now, you’re saying, “Yes, Chris…yes, I need peace.” Well here’s the truth about peace as you’ll learn today: lasting inner peace is not a destination; it’s a journey. And, your own personal struggle is not a lack of faith; it is the journey of faith. And according to today’s guest, Erwin McManus, “The world around us is not disconnected from the world within us.”

In today’s conversation, we’re diving into a topic that most likely plagues all of us at some point in time, and that’s how to eliminate the need to hurry in life, and instead, create a pace that’s both healthy and sustainable. Because of the pace at which I run, I’ve been asking myself, “Who am I becoming?” That’s a powerful question we all should be able to answer. And that’s a question we’re going to tackle with today’s guest, John Mark Comer, as he teaches us how to stay emotionally healthy and spiritually active in the chaos of our modern world.

In today’s conversation, I’m taking you into my weekly counseling and mentoring session with my key mentor, Dave Bauer, in which we’re walking through something I’ve struggled with for years, and that’s the spirit of accusation and the spirit of fear. And the reason I wanted to turn on the mics in this personal session is because I know I’m not the only one who has faced (and is facing) situations outside my control; situations that leave me feeling gutted, and if I can be so vulnerable, even without hope at times. It’s unnerving. It’s painful. And it’s really scary. But what I do know is that there is a way out. I’ve found it for myself. There is a solution to finally close the lid on this insidious assault upon the core of our identity. And the beginning of freedom starts with surrender.\

Today, we’re joined by our long-time friend, Michele Cushatt, who’s here to help us navigate through the fear of abandonment, even by God Himself. How do you hold onto faith when it seems like God Himself is gone? In struggle, illness, death, or failure, pain causes us to question God's presence. We pray and watch life play-out for proof of God’s nearness. But in the quiet that follows, we often fear the worst: abandonment. Today, you’re going to hear promises without the platitudes, and a battle strategy to find safety in the very real, always near presence of the Lord, even in the midst of your most trying time.

This week, we’re sitting down with my new friend, Kasey Van Norman, whose story of an abusive childhood, public infidelity, and even a battle with cancer, was enough to take most people down, and even led her to question if God could truly lover her. In fact, she believed her life was too scandalous to be significant. In today’s conversation, you’re going to hear Kasey’s story firsthand, and learn that even your worst day, your most horrific pain, and your most desperate darkness will not be wasted.
Know this: if you’ve walked through seemingly insurmountable obstacles and can’t seem to make sense of the mess you’ve been in or are in currently, your pain is not to be dismissed, downplayed or even undefined. Instead, it will be used as a tool to actually rebuild and restore you.

This week on the show, we’re taking a deep dive into a conversation about how to get from where you are today to where you want to be tomorrow. But unlike a lot of the typical self-help industry advice, we’re going to the root of the problem: the belief system. And joining us today is business leader, entrepreneur, and MasterClass speaker, Ian Prukner. Through the lens of his new book, “Byproduct: Autonomous success in a bold new world,” you’re going to learn how to heal a broken belief system, why your faulty beliefs create inconsistencies in life, and when your “why” is clear, your “how-to” appears. And then stay tuned until the end of the conversation to get a free e-course lesson from Ian’s new book.

This week we’re diving into conversation about an issue that hits all of us: distractions. While many people have learned to tune out distractions that keep them from being productive, they remain deaf to their inner desires and emotions. Joining me is Clay Scroggins, who has been on the show before, and he’s going to teach us four simple habits that create space for emotional evaluation and exploration. These helpful practices will empower you to replace the chaos of your busy days with emotional competence and awareness that leads to a calmer, more fulfilling life.

This week on the show, I was honored to be joined in conversation by William Paul Young. Paul is best known as the author of the iconic book, “The Shack.” But in our conversation today, we don’t talk about “The Shack” for more than a couple minutes. Instead, Paul and I headed straight into a heartfelt and utterly provocative conversation around lies we believe about God, true intimacy and belonging, what it means to really be seen and known, and why, according to Paul, “The unexposed remains unhealed.” Paul is a sage, such an example of someone whose life is laid down at the feet of Jesus, and such a father figure, even amidst great tragedy and great redemption.

As a young boy, after his father was killed by a drunk driver and his mother suffered devastating injuries, Hal Donaldson was taken in by another family—an experience that first exposed him to the power of compassion and creating change. Later in life, his career as an investigative journalist took him across the country where the daily newsfeed full of suffering and injustice began to shape his passion for creating positive change in the lives of others. Fast-forward to today, Hal serves as co-founder and CEO of Convoy of Hope—an organization devoted to creating lasting positive change for people who have no hope for tomorrow.
After hearing Hal’s story, and after having listened to today’s conversation, you’ll learn how to evaluate the resources you already have, navigate real concerns and risks, check your motives, and ultimately become equipped as an agitator with purpose.

This week on the show, I wanted to pull back the curtain on a phone call-turned broadcast interview between one of my closest friends, co-host of “The Connected Life” podcast, Justin Stumvoll and me. Justin and I, through the lenses of our own stories, have been talking about men, the masculine soul, men and emotions, and how we as men have tackled—and overcome—issues like chronic anxiety and trauma. I’ll be honest, this is a really raw conversation, and in it, we’re really vulnerable about our own journeys, but I believe it will expose some of the fear and shame associated with this topic, especially for men. So yes, while this conversation is aimed at men, women listening, I do believe it will add tremendous value to you, too. So without any further delay, let’s jump into my conversation with Justin Stumvoll.
Given the dominant narrative of his life, Caylin Moore should be dead, in prison, or stalking the streets of Compton with fellow gang-members. Instead, at age 24, he’s a Rhodes Scholar, having graduated with his Master’s Degree from Oxford University in England. He’s an author, speaker, husband, father, and role model for children deprived of hope in downtrodden communities, while at the same time, inspiring people around the nation to rise above their limiting beliefs about their seemingly limiting circumstances and so that they will become the best they’re capable of becoming.
Mentored by the great Warren Buffett, Zack Friedman's no nonsense, straightforward approach to personal growth is going to jumpstart your ability to rise above adverse circumstances, think wider, dream bigger, and pursue the greatness and impact your life was designed to experience, not simply for yourself, but for those who matter most in your life.
For Chris and Emily Norton, walking across the stage at his college graduation seemed like an impossible goal. After suffering a paralyzing injury in a college football game in his freshman year, Chris Norton was given a three percent chance of moving anything below the neck again. Despite a negative prognosis, Chris trained relentlessly, focused on walking across the graduation stage, which led him to meeting his then-fiancée, Emily. His incredible 10 steps across that stage were seen around the world by more than 300 million people—but little did they know, that was just the beginning of Chris and Emily’s journey.
Anxiety is no joke. Right now in America, nearly 40 million people suffer from some form of panic and anxiety. Worse, a lot of people are embarrassed to seek help and talk about the anxiety they’re experiencing, especially because of the societal stigma often attached to panic and anxiety.
Today, Bethel Music's Brian Johnson shares how the panic and anxiety of his early life―panic he’d thought he’d beaten―came back to haunt him. After experiencing debilitating anxiety attacks from the age of seven into his early adult years, Brian learned what it
